Women In The Studio National Accelerator

Celebrating its seventh year, the Accelerator is designed to provide the cohort of producer-songwriters with skills development and networking opportunities that may otherwise be inaccessible to them.

The program will focus on topics including technical and songwriting skills, branding and financial literacy and will offer opportunities for creative collaborations. Each producer, as a condition of acceptance, has also agreed to explore volunteer opportunities in their own community.

The Accelerator will run from June to October 2025 and the sessions and workshops will take place virtually and in person. The week-long in-person residency program will take place in Toronto in July.

Past and present mentors: Ebonie Smith, Emily Lazar, Sylvia Massy, Dr. Susan Rogers, Ann Mincieli, Linda Perry, Eli Brown, Angie Randisi, Rob Wells, Liz Rodrigues, and Samantha Pickard.

“The creative community makes meaningful and important contributions to society and our economy. Supporting artists with inclusive opportunities for prosperity, connecting them to broader networks and allowing for skills development can help ensure they may continue to share their talents with our communities. Congratulations to the 2025 Women in the Studio Accelerator Cohort!”

— Gayle Corcoran, Senior Director, Social Impact, RBC

“Only six percent of the songs you hear are produced by women. Now in its seventh year, the Accelerator is a cornerstone of what we do at Music Publishers Canada to make sure we are doing the work that will lead to seeing meaningful change in this industry. We look forward to guiding the participants as they learn and grow over the coming months."

“Women artists have rightfully claimed their space in the spotlight - whether on stage or in the studio, but engineers and producer roles at the studio stubbornly remain a space where women aren't afforded equal opportunities to bring their creativity and technical skill to the process of crafting that next enduring hit song. Women in the Studio is the leading edge of that wedge for creating and keeping space for women to express their talent in the recording process and we're proud to claim this will remain a #FACTORfunded initiative until the goal of parity is achieved.”

“The Women in the Studio National Accelerator program is playing an important role in building a more vibrant, inclusive and competitive music industry and Ontario Creates is proud to be a supporter. The skills development and capacity building opportunities are key to ensuring the participants’ future success, and reducing barriers women often face in accessing training and experience for technical roles. Congratulations to the 2025 cohort of participants – we wish you much success!"
